Our Site |
Grace Episcopal Church was founded in 1868 as a mission of St. John's. Religious Services were originally held in Monroe Presbyterian Church, now Monroe Methodist Church. Grace Church was incorporated in 1871 as a Free Church, which meant in part that the property was owned by the parish and not held in trust for the Diocese. The Church was enlarged in 1903 by adding the sacristy. In 1911, a vestry room was added which became part of the sacristy. From 1959 through 1974 the other parts of the parish hall were constructed. In 2007 we joined with other parishes to form the Orange County Pastorate. The Rev. Alon White was called as our vicar and began serving the parishes in 2008. We are currently partnered with St. David's in Highland Mills, New York. In 2008 we became a pilot member of a Trinity Grants program All our Children which was designed to develop partnerships between public schools and Episcopal parishes. This past year, with North Main Elementary School, we created a community garden where we grew vegetables for distribution to those in need. We hope you will stop by and see it sometime.
